Privacy policy
Notemai is provided by Marius Macarenco. This policy explains information handled when you use the app, its online services, and this website. For privacy questions, contact marius.macarenco@gmail.com.
Information used to provide Notemai
- Account information: your email address, profile information you provide, account identifier, and sign-in information needed to authenticate you.
- Study content: notes, documents, images, audio, transcripts, messages, and other material you create or choose to import. Content is stored on your device; using cloud, sharing, or online AI features can transmit the relevant content to those services.
- Purchases and usage: purchase and entitlement information, subscription status, and AI usage needed to provide paid features, enforce allowances, and prevent abuse. Apple processes App Store payments; Notemai does not receive your full payment-card details.
- Technical information: service requests, device or app information, errors, and usage records needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service. Optional analytics depend on the app's settings and your privacy choice.
Online AI and on-device AI
Online AI is optional and requires your explicit permission before study text is shared. When you allow Online AI, Notemai sends the current message or selected document excerpts, recent chat context, and any enabled personalization, including Study Library subject and book titles, through Notemai's secure backend to OpenAI, a third-party AI provider, to generate your answer. Original attached images remain on your device; recognized text from an image may be sent when you ask Online AI to use it. Avoid submitting sensitive information you do not want OpenAI to process. You can withdraw permission in Settings → AI Tutor. Withdrawing permission stops new Online AI requests; it does not recall data already processed. On-device AI and other app features remain available.
On-device AI processes requests on your device. Downloading an AI model requires a network connection to the model host; it is separate from sending your study content for online inference. Cloud sync or sharing remains governed by the features you choose to use.
Service providers and sharing
Notemai uses Supabase for backend services such as account authentication, storage, synchronization, and sharing; OpenAI for cloud AI; Apple for App Store purchases and platform services such as optional iCloud features; and Cloudflare to serve this website and app links. Apple or Google processes sign-in when you choose the corresponding option. These providers process information under their applicable terms and privacy policies. Information may be processed outside your country.
When you share a study space, its participants can access the information permitted by their role. Consider who has access before adding private content. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect users and the service.
Retention and deletion
Local content remains under your device and app storage controls. Account and cloud content is retained to provide the features you use until you delete it or your account, subject to operational backup retention and records needed for security, purchase reconciliation, or legal obligations. Deletion from active systems and expiry from backups may occur at different times. Copies you export or that others retain are outside the app's deletion controls.
Initiate account deletion in Notemai Settings. Contact marius.macarenco@gmail.com for help with access, correction, deletion, or other privacy rights available where you live. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Permissions and your choices
Camera, microphone, speech recognition, and calendar access support features you choose to use. You can change system permissions in device Settings. You can decline online AI and control available analytics preferences in Notemai. Disabling a permission can prevent its related feature from working.
This website
These pages do not set advertising cookies or include advertising trackers. Cloudflare receives connection information, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the website. Invitation secrets remain in the private link fragment. Password-reset links are sensitive; do not share them.
Children
Notemai is not intended for children below the age at which they can consent to online services in their jurisdiction without a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian can contact us about a child's information.
